Hiya, I'm Christine, friendly neighborhood admin and geekgirl. Way back in 2001, I was one of the founding members of Pittsburgh Fanforce, over on theforce.net. We played around with a couple of different names, but went by the Star Wars Association of Pittsburgh for several years. A few month ago, we realized that name really didn't reflect the diverse interests of our members, so we became the Science Fiction Alliance of Pittsburgh. We also decided that the old message boards at theforce.net didn't quite fit our needs anymore. Although we are sorta kinda keeping the old message boards on life support, we now mainly play on Facebook and (hopefully) these boards. Star Wars has been my favorite fandom since I first saw Darth Vader appear on the screen, summer of 1977. (Yeah, I know that everyone says they got hooked with the star destroyer going overhead, but for me it was that menacing figure appearing through the smoke.) I'm also a fan of the Whendon Verse (esp Firefly and Buffy), Doctor Who, and Supernatural. I rpg, old school tabletop. Right now I'm in a Firefly rpg and a Supernatural rpg. I also love playing with yarn. I'm an avid crocheter, although I occasionally will knit a cunning hat or two. s48.photobucket.com/albums/f243/greencat336/Jayne%20hats/And if michedian is the good one, that must make me the evilz one.

Hi Christine! Glad to meet you I used to crochet, but haven't had a lot of time lately. Most recently, I've been trying to teach myself how to knit. It's been quite an adventure! I love doing crafty things, too.

If you want some help with learning how to knit, there's a group of really nice folks called Three Rivers Crochet (don't be fooled by the name, about half of them are knitters) that meet every Saturday 2-5 at the Panera Bread near Magee Women's Hospital. They are very willing to share their knowledge with others. I only know the very basic stitches of knit and purl. I can make a Jayne hat, but that's about it. threeriverscrochet.com/If you click on 'blog' and scroll down a bit, you'll see some of the stuff I've made.
