My son was saying how the effects in the first movie was '80's cheesy', with Slimer and the Marshmellow Man. It's meant to be funny though, not really horror. The second movie had Vigo, who was a bit more intimidating.
IF there was another Ghostbusters movie made, how do you think it should go, given the time gap between the movies?

well, GB is a mix of horror and comedy. There are some pretty scary ghosts in there, if they were put in a different format. Ok, Slimer is cute, but look at the subway ghost, the heads on pikes in the subway tunnel, the zombie cab driver, etc. since the overall feel is a comedy, these otherwise scary ghosts are funny (my son still makes me hide the Terror Dog figure in the closet--he's 8 I think it should be like it always has been--a blend of horror and comedy. The rumor is that Rick Moranis and Sigorney are coming back, and that Oscar (the baby) will be back as a GB. I'm looking forward to it (of course). : )

I very much like the new Ghostbuster 2016 movie. Where the originals were pretty much standard Bill Murry movies, the new one is more balanced. Males don't seem to like it though. Sadly I think this gender bias kept the movie from doing well at the box office. I liked the characters. There was perhaps more nerd humor in it than the originals. It's one of those fun movies I can put in the DVD player and let play in the background as I do things. Sometimes I pick up on a new bit of humor I missed before.
